Mr. Daryll's Studio

STUDIO POLICY & PROCEDURE

STUDIO SCHEDULE

Students may enroll in lessons at any time. Scheduling times and availability may vary depending on the season, holidays, or school calendars.

Lessons are scheduled in 30-minute or 60-minute time slots. Your weekly time slot is determined at the beginning of the semester or term, and will remain the same throughout the semester or term. Availability of time slots is subject to change. No lessons will be scheduled during Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Spring Break, or Independence Day. Other holidays and school breaks may affect the studio schedule.

Makeup lessons are subject to the studio schedule and availability. Missed lessons must be made up or rescheduled before the end of the same semester or term. There are no refunds for missed or canceled lessons.

The “School year” is loosely tied to the public school system in this area, beginning in September, and ending in August. The fees described in this policy will be good for the entire school year. Adequate notice will be given for a change in fees before the next school year.

FEES & PAYMENT

Tuition is $30 per half hour. You may pay up to a month (4 lessons) in advance. Payment is accepted via cash or check, Venmo or Apple Pay.

RECITALS

Studio recitals will be held from time to time at the discretion of the instructor. Participation in recitals is not compulsory. Participating students may require extra rehearsals or changes to the lessons schedule.

POSTPONE OR CANCEL

The student may postpone a lesson for any reason, with 24 hours notice. Postponed lessons will be made up within the same payment period when possible and at the discretion of the teacher. If you do not show up for your lesson, or you do not notify the teacher at least 24 hours before your lesson time begins, your lesson will be canceled with no opportunity to make up.

If you are late to your lesson, the lesson may be extended up to 10 minutes at the discretion of the teacher. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your lesson may be canceled with no opportunity to make up.

The teacher may postpone or cancel a lesson for any reason, and will give you as much advance notice as possible, with more than 24 hours notice. Lessons postponed by the teacher will be made up within the same payment period; when the teacher cancels your lesson, the tuition for that lesson will be refunded.

If you will be late or need to postpone or cancel your lesson, please text, call, or email right away.

STUDENT MATERIALS

Students are expected to have and maintain their own instrument. Additionally, students are expected to purchase their own method book (determined by your school band program), sheet music (including accompaniment scores), and practice materials. Here is a suggested list of student materials:

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

Parents are encouraged to attend lessons. For the beginning student, parent involvement will aid in the transfer of skills and knowledge from lessons to at-home practice. Parents will also receive lesson notes after each session to help them understand what the student is focusing on in practice. The studio may also present some opportunities for parent volunteers when the need arises, especially for recitals and other studio gatherings.
